Generally, bonuses are paid when an new player from an accepted country (the UK is always fine by the way!) opens a user account and purchases a minimum value of chips. Bonuses are often automatically credited to the player's account but some online casinos require their players to take a further step of applying for the bonus. Again, check your online casino's specific terms to find out when and how you can expect the bonus to be applied, and any minimum deposit you need to make to earn the bonus.

Naturally it wouldn't be in any online casino's interest to have new members join then immediately cash in their bonus without playing, so there is likely to be a minimum wager requirement. This means that you must have made bets to a certain value before you can withdraw the bonus money the online casino has given you.

The usual arrangement is that the minimum wager is a multiple of the bonus plus the player's initial deposit. For example, on joining a casino you purchase £50 of chips and you receive a £50 matching bonus, taking your account balance to £100. If the casino operates a 25x minimum wager requirement for the bonus, to cash that £50 bonus in you must have placed bets to the value of at least £2,500 at the casino (25 x £100).

This may seem a high figure at first sight, but every bet you place in the online casino counts toward this total (although be aware some games, noted in the bonus’ terms and conditions, may be excluded from the promotion) whether you win or lose. Also you are not obliged to bet this figure by joining the casino. The minimum wager only affects your freedom to cash in gifts of bonus money the online casino has paid to your account. Plus winnings earned from the bonus money can be withdrawn without the wagering requirement having been met, which makes them very handy incentives!
